Headaches

Carrying Ibuprofen or Tylenol in your bag each and every day to kill that migraine headache? Have you found out why you might be suffering from such head pain?
According to the National Headache Foundation over 28 million Americans, this is equivalent to 13 percent of the population suffer from chronic headaches.
Headache is pain in any region of the head. Headaches may occur on one or both sides of the head, be isolated to a certain location, radiate across the head from one point, or have a viselike quality.
A headache may appear as a sharp pain, a throbbing sensation or a dull ache. Headaches can develop gradually or suddenly, and may last from less than an hour to several days and in some chronic cases it can last for weeks.
The two most common types of headaches are Tension/Cervicogenic and Migraine headache.
A vast majority of Americans often utilize over the counter or prescription drugs to treat their headaches. Unfortunately, a majority of the time, these drugs only mask the symptoms and do not address the root cause of the problem.
At Divine Spine, we strive to find the root cause of our patient’s headaches through our comprehensive exam process which includes digital x-rays of the neck and upper back region. We also incorporate a computerized posture analysis to help us diagnosis the problem.
Our clinical findings have shown that dysfunction of the neck (cervical spine) (see our detailed blog on neck pain here) can lead to various types of headaches. The type of dysfunction we typically find is a cervical subluxation. This is when a joint in the neck is either out of alignment or has restrictive motion. This causes irritation of the surrounding muscles and nerves which frequently to headaches.
At Divine Spine, we utilize a computerized adjustment system that can gently restore motion and correct alignment without any twisting or popping of the spine. We also utilize specific exercises and stretches to help correct cervical curvature and create stability in the cervical spine.
We have had tremendous success helping majority of our patients with various types of headaches. If you have been suffering with chronic headaches and are looking for a solution that does not involve drugs, surgery or twisting/popping then give us a call immediately.
On your first visit, you will receive a comprehensive exam and digital xrays followed by a doctor’s report. We do this to figure out the root cause of the problem and create a personalized treatment plan. Our goal is to go beyond relieving our patient’s headache symptoms, we strive to resolve the root cause of the problem and teach our patients the proper stretches and exercises to create lasting stability.
